Narrow Band UVB Phototherapy

Narrow Band UVB Phototherapy is a safe and effective treatment for autoimmune skin diseases and is considered a top-of-the-line treatment for many skin conditions such as Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Eczema, and other conditions. Narrowband UVB (NBUVB) light is one small portion of the UVB spectrum and is the most effective and safest at treating skin diseases.

This common treatment uses bright ultraviolet (UV) lights on your exposed skin. This treatment is safe for children, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and people who have a weakened immune system.

As a Phototherapy patient, you will have Phototherapy appointments 2-3 times a week. Treatment is most effective when you keep a regular treatment schedule and are consistent with your appointments. Light is gradually increased with each appointment over the treatment period based on multiple factors.

There are possible short-term side effects such as sunburn-like reactions, mild stinging or burning, dark spots on the skin, and itching. Blisters and burns are possible but rare. The possible long-term side effects include freckles, early skin aging, and an increased risk of developing skin cancer.
